MONOCRYL™ Plus Antibacterial (poliglecaprone 25) Suture
MONOCRYL Plus Antibacterial (poliglecaprone 25) monofilament suture is a monofilament synthetic absorbable surgical suture prepared from a copolymer of glycolide and epsilon-caprolactone. The suture contains Irgacare MP (triclosan), a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent.
MONOCRYL Plus Antibacterial sutures are indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, but not for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues, microsurgery or ophthalmic surgery.
MONOCRYL™ Plus Antibacterial (poliglecaprone 25) Sutures offer unique benefits for skin tissue, including:
Wound-holding strength required to support tissue during the critical healing period (5 to 7 days)*,172
Protection against colonization of the suture by bacteria commonly associated with SSIs, including:
Staphylococcus aureus
Staphylococcus epidermidis
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis (MRSE)
Klebsiella pneumoniae
Escherichia coli
Minimal tissue trauma due to a monofilament design that reduces drag force by 2 to 3 times compared with braided absorbable sutures and a propriety polymer that utilizes a hydrolytic process to minimize tissue reaction during absorption.

ETHICON™ Suture Needles
Carefully selecting a surgical suture needle is a critical component in achieving excellent wound closure outcomes. The ideal surgical needle should be:
- Sharp enough to penetrate and carry suture through tissue with minimal resistance
- Slim as possible without compromising strength
- Rigid to resist bending, yet ductile to resist breaking
- Stable in the grasp of the needleholder
Ethicon offers over 200 types of surgical suture needles, allowing clinicians great flexibility to select the most appropriate needle for the specific needs of the tissue being repaired.
